2015 Installation of Officers

On Monday, December 8th, Lawton Lodge #183 held the installation of its Officers for 2015. Family and friends were in attendance to share in this special night with the Brothers.

Before the installation commenced, outgoing W:. M:. Dennis Plunkett recognized two Brothers for their involvement in the lodge during 2014. First was Brother Corey Holzer who served as the lodge’s Junior Warden in 2014 and who is moving to his next assignment with the military. Not only did he serve as Junior Warden but he also participated in the lodge’s traveling degree team and helped to established the lodge’s 21st Century web presence by building the lodge’s website and Facebook page. He also recognized Brother Jared Baker, the lodge’s Senior Deacon, who plays the important role of setting the tone for degrees. His professionalism is what candidates remember the most during their first degree.

The local assembly of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls (Lawton Assembly #55) presented the lodge with the gift of a framed cross-stitch of the square and compasses. It was their way of thanking Lawton Lodge for all the support the lodge had given the assembly over the past year.

The installation commenced with the introduction of the officers for the upcoming year and continued with the installation of each brother into his office. The installing officer for the evening was W:. Robert Jameson was the installing officer for the evening. He installed the officers beginning with the W:. M:. and finishing with the Tiler.

Lawton Lodge would like to thank all those who joined us for this special event and the installing officers.

Manda-Panda Benefit Luncheon Benefit a Huge Success

This afternoon Lawton Lodge #183 hosted a luncheon in an effort to raise money to help the family of Manda Pohawpatchoko, a young lady with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The Lawton native was diagnosed with the disease in July and has been undergoing intensive medical treatments since then.

The lodge drew the support of the city, including the Lawton Constitution (who published an article), KLAW Radio (who ran radio ads), and others in an effort to help a family challenged with the expense of both the medical costs and traveling to and from Oklahoma City where she receives treatments.

After all was said and done, the Brothers of Lawton Lodge and the International Order of Rainbow for Girls Assembly #55 served 24 lbs of pasta (with 10 gallons of sauce), 160 slices of garlic bread and 3 loaves of Italian bread, 15 pounds of meatballs, and 40 lbs of lasagna. The guests ate well and raised $1,800. With matching funds from the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma, the grand total raised for Manda Panda and her family was $3,600.

When Worshipful Master Dennis Plunkett announced the final total there were plenty of cheers and several tears. He ended his announcement saying, “We wish we could have done more.”
